Emblematic projects in Morocco
Slums have been growing around Morocco’s cities as a result of rural exodus. Almost 10% of the population lives in precarious housing. AFD is supporting the “Cities Without Slums” program launched by Morocco’s authorities in order to completely eradicate slums by 2012. <Find out more>
Morocco’s Ifrane province is home to the most beautiful cedar forests in the Mediterranean Basin. They are however now under threat of overexploitation. AFD is supporting a large-scale project to protect these forests in close partnership with local populations and other partners. <Find out more>
Al Amana, Morocco’s biggest MFI, served 207 000 clients as of 30 June 2005 for an outstanding amount of 550 million dirhams. AFD’s concessional financing has been allocated for a ten-year period and will contribute to refinancing the association’s overall microfinance activities. <Find out more>
AFD is supporting the Zakoura Microfinance Foundation by financing its activities. AFD is supporting the project because it has positive impacts in terms of gender equality. The aims of the financing are to develop loan services mainly for very small enterprises and micro-enterprises and to meet needs in terms of training and awareness-raising. <Find out more>
