While Europe is trying to renew its relations with the Mediterranean world, this publication provides an overview of long-term trends underway in South Mediterranean Arab countries on the basis of their economies. The book makes a cross-analysis of different viewpoints (macro-economic, institutional analysis, political economy, emerging movements…) and gives us a deeper insight into the challenges facing Arab Mediterranean societies and economies. The use of an original database (“Institutional Profiles”) provides a whole new way of analyzing how these countries operate.
