AFD pledges to work with the retired

Michel JACQUIER signed a partnership agreement on 24 June 2008 with three early-retirement and retirement associations - AGIR abcd (association of retired employees) – voluntary cooperation and development actions – ECTI (association for international technical exchanges and consultations and OTECI (technical office for international cooperation). The skills of the 6 500 members of the three associations cover practically all the intervention sectors of AFD.

It is expressly agreed that the activities of these retired voluntary experts shall not be detrimental to paid employment both in France and in AFD’s intervention countries and shall not replace actions carried out by paid operators. Where appropriate, AFD pledges to call upon retired experts for consulting or project missions, particularly during the audit, support or ex-post evaluation phases of operations.

These partnership agreements may be applied to the following: mobilizing highly-specialized experts to process financings for low amounts at the local level, ex-post project evaluation, support to small private operators financed or guaranteed by the Group (within the framework of operations such as, for instance, the project in Morocco for Moroccan residents in France to create 1 000 SMEs).

In order to have a better mutual understanding of teams, and to facilitate the implementation of the partnerships, it has been agreed that the associations’ representatives will contact technical departments at the headquarters and in the agencies, when the associations are represented locally or during missions in countries where we are active.
