AFD at the centre of reflection on aid effectiveness

Aid effectiveness has become a core issue for the donor community. This notably led to the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs, 2001), the Monterrey Conference on Financing for Development (2002) and the Paris Declaration (2005). AFD meets these issues via the implementation of the French Action Plan for the Paris Declaration. It has set up projects bringing together its entire network abroad for the implementation of this Action Plan. >> Find out more about the implementation of the Paris Declaration and our actions in favour of effectiveness

Aid effectiveness and UE

The European Union has collectively pledged to improve the effectiveness of aid to South countries. A high-level Forum will be held in Accra in September 2008 under the French Presidency to evaluate progress on this topic since the adoption of the Paris Declaration in 2005 and the European Consensus on Development.
A significant step was reached in May 2007 with the adoption of the EU Code of Conduct on Complementarity and the Division of Labour in Development Policy. It provides for coordinated donor actions in the field based on their comparative advantages. Donor actions must become complementary, a principle which may lead to funds being delegated to other donors.
AFD is actively working for the agenda for greater effectiveness and quality in European aid.  >> More about Aid effectiveness and EU
